Golf simulators work by using launch monitors with high-speed cameras or radar to capture data from your swing (club speed, path, ball speed, launch angle, spin) at impact, then a powerful computer uses physics software to calculate the ball’s flight path, projecting the virtual shot onto a screen to create a realistic experience, says the article,. The system provides instant feedback on your shot’s trajectory, distance, and spin, allowing for practice and play on virtual courses.
The App
The Toptracer Range app is where the magic happens. When guests create a profile, they instantly become part of a global golf community. The app stores data from practice sessions so players can monitor changes and fine tune their swing over time. For users at Toptracer Range Mobile-enabled facilities, the app is also where they can access skill-based games that will drive their range session.
Games
Guests of all ages and handicaps will enjoy playing iconic courses or taking aim at virtual targets and seeing if they can climb our global leaderboard.

How Simulator Works Golf Step-by-Step
- You Hit the Ball: You strike a real golf ball on a hitting mat.
- Data Capture: Sensors, cameras, or radar instantly capture data points like:
- Club Data: Speed, path, face angle, loft.
- Ball Data: Speed, launch angle, spin rate (and axis).
- Data Processing: The data is sent to the computer, which calculates the ball’s precise flight (carry, roll, curve) using complex physics models.
- Virtual Display: The software projects the ball’s entire flight path and landing spot onto the screen, showing the virtual course.
Feedback & Play: You get immediate data on your shot, and the system moves to the next shot or hole, allowing for play on famous courses or practice
